spring is well on her way, new and green and touching everything.

closeness and sureness from years of commitment. from honoring a choice.

up bright and early—clean clear december morning. so we went for a walk. and it was quite cold but very nice. that white winter sun finding everything.

and at the center, McKenzie and Beau, pressed sweetly, cheek to cheek beneath twinkle lights and the great trees of her grandmother’s backyard.

and being there was a gift. bbq under string lights. the soft lull of music a conversation pouring from the kitchen. the creaking of a wooden deck turned dance floor.

the kind of clouds you dream about and want to drift away on. the kind of rain that’s so thin and misty it settles like a fog. and all the greens sang to life and those tender touches and hand brushes and laughs and heart pounds—those things just magnified times a million because good glory that soft, hazy, autumnal light. that’s not a sentence but it’s how i felt.

i've said it before. a good getting ready space is better than the best cup of coffee as soon as your feet hit the floor. a good getting ready space is better to me than the coolest venue. it's where you spend most of your day. it's where the biggest chunk of your photos are taken. it can be used for portraits with your family or bridesmaids or first look or just you.

the night before the weather said there was 100% chance of thunderstorms at the time we were supposed to start. but instead we got beautiful fog and soft muted clouds. and then the sun came out full and strong. and to get both in one day isn't such a stretch here. you never know what you're going to end up with. some kind of magic.
