let's get creative

so here we are. it's the middle of August and I'm catching up on that summer wedding rush (editing cave all day everyday until I die) and it's the hottest that it will be all year long and it's that summer slump. the end of one season--or what feels like should be the end. we're all crossing our fingers praying for fall to come on in fast and swift but until then we try to resist cranking down the AC and look forward to ushering in the multitude of weddings and portrait sessions that come with autumn. the cool, the color change, the everything.

and I have decided to actively fight against the slump and instead foster creativity and inspiration before the next rush. a week of only personal shoots. shoots to push my boundaries--different than my same old same old. to try new things and meet new people and give life to creativity. my dear friend, Mandy (over at Cavely) and I had a great conversation once about how creativity/magic/imagination is this tangible thing. it's this precious gift that we've been given and we shouldn't allow it to dry up. you have to tend to it--nurture it and feed it and help it to grow.

there will be three to four shoots happening (from Wednesday Aug 27-Wednesday Sept 3rd). one or two couples and then one or two girls. if you're interested in modeling, shoot me an email (lauren@laurenapelphoto.com) with a photo of you/yall--for this particular project I need people who are go getters. brave. bold. not shy or nervous but ready to get shot (and maybe get a little weird).

I'm going to be contacting people, too, but I wanted to open up the option of people contacting me if they're interested in collaborating. if it ends up being as bad to the bone as I hope for it to be, I'll do it again next year.

let's do this thang.
